The beginning of April saw the commencement of The Tournament of the Gods and what a thrilling experience for all!
The contestants engaged in bloody warfare over several bone breaking rounds but only one came out above the rest to walk away as Champion.
Our intrepid reporter Nancy Fletcher caught up with the Champion in an exclusive one on one interview with The Showman himself!

Thank you so much for agreeing to sit with us today Showman! The grand champion of the Tournament of the Gods! That must have been such a moment for you! Tell us... What made you decide to enter the tournament?
Well, after being dragged into the Mountain during something to do with a bow, I decided to explore a bit. I was owed a bit of leave from work, and I thought... what better way to learn about this place than to enter a tournament? I need to have more experience fighting things I am not used to. This seemed like a perfect opportunity to kill two birds with one stone
That it did indeed. What did you think of the prowess of the opponents you faced?
Well, considering I nearly died each and every time... I would say they were quite good at fighting. From fight one I had been shot in the shoulder. Since then, it only got more painful. It was a fun challenge though. Excluding the Trickster God, I still have nightmares of that Lego.
I'm glad you enjoyed the challenge... though I'm sure we have an emporium in the Village that can help with the nightmares. How did it feel to find out you had not only made it as far as you had... but then won the entire competition?
Well, when it was announced I was asleep, I won’t lie. Beforehand I was astonished I reached so far, I presumed it had something to do with my brilliant style and dazzling smile, or possibly the insanity I invoked in every battle. I am still proud of what I did to Mitch, it took a long time to be able to get that shoe back. But when it finally reached the final battle... I was certain I had lost. To find out I won? I honestly thought that I was hallucinating from that gas. To sum up the feeling, I suppose it can be described in one word: Disbelief.
I think your brilliant showmanship had at least something to do with it! You definitely deserved the win! We at the Maverick had been following your progress since the start. One last question before we wrap up; Do you have any sage advice for up and coming battlers and arena challengers? Particularly for those new to the battle scene.
Well, preferably they could avoid entering. That was I will never have to fight them. I kind of like that ring they gave me...
Joking aside, I would just advise everyone who enters to be completely mad. Those who got the furthest, in my opinion, used everything at their disposal in such bizarre and fascinating ways. Every second was filled with the unexpected.
But also, don’t go in there with everything expecting to win. Go in there humbly; adapt your state to that of your opponent. If you enter a battle with no chance of losing, where is the fun? You might as well just sit there and proclaim yourself the winner. If that means sacrificing equipment that may make you win for the sake of the battle, all I can do is applaud you for your showmanship and brilliance.
We have since learned that the final four arenas have remained open with several challengers already facing off to beat the title holders to each arena. The challenger who can successfully snag each of the four titles may then challenge The Showman for his title as Grand Champion!
We wish all present and future combatants luck in their quest to take on a truly outstanding Battler!
