Our news hungry reporter Nancy Fletcher has been at it again!
The Dark Mountain played host to Skadi’s Winter Trials and many a brave soul faced the frigid and unforgiving climates of the Northern realms arenas and the snow elf Astrid Isbrann emerged from the ice as our victor!
Standing by with a mug of hot chocolate and marshmallows, Nancy sat down with Astrid to talk about her win.

Thank you so much for meeting with me today Astrid!
Here you sit, Skadi's White Wolf... winner of her Tournament.
What made you decide to enter in the first place?
Giving the reporter a small smile, Astrid took moment to ponder her answer, twirling her braid as she spoke.
"Well, I was following a sign from my hometown, a Northern Fire if you will, that ended up leading me all the way here. It's part of an old prophecy that the elders said I was destined to fulfil, but to be completely honest with you I wasn't really sure on how to start on such a quest, so when my travels eventually led me to discovering about the tournament, I thought it might be the answer I was looking for."
She laughs softly.
"I didn't think I'd ever get this far, but here I am!"
"Would you say that you're now on your way to fulfilling the prophecy of the elders?"
"Of course, it's the reason I'm even here, after all."
"How wonderful! As an elf that must be a momentous occasion for you!"
"What would you say was the most challenging aspect of the tournament?"
Her eyes lit up at the mention of the tournament, clearly the fresh memories of the battles beginning to replay themselves in her mind.
"Other than the fantastic array of contestants, I would have to say the constantly changing battlefields. Not knowing what could occur in the middle of a fight brought a new sense of adaptability to the field, and really tested my ability to think on my feet."
"I must say it was perfectly thrilling to watch you think on your feet!"
"What was running through your mind when you not only made it to the finals but then came out on top?"
"After the initial feeling of shock wore off, I was just ecstatic. Like I said earlier, I never thought I would make it to semi-finals, let alone become champion. The tournament proved to me that I'm a lot more capable than I give myself credit for, and I'm glad that I decided to participate."
"You certainly should give yourself a lot of credit Astrid! And we are glad you chose to test your prowess in the tournament."
"We do hope you'll be participating in more events and tournaments in future Astrid. See how many badges you can add to your winning streak?"
"Of course, I don't plan on stopping anytime soon, and besides, I'm far too curious to see what happens in the next tournament."
We here at the Maverick cannot wait to see what else lies in wait on the Mountain and we wish Astrid all best in her endevours!
